Page Content Checks

Refresh the Accessibility Checker after completing a set of steps.
  • Tagged Content

This ensures that all content is either included in the tags tree or marked as an artifact (decorative element). Some elements may be harder to find depending on how many layers your document has.

To easily find the content that is not marked or tagged:

    1. Select and expand the Accessibility Tags side panel from the right-rail toolbar.
    2. Select and expand the Options menu (ellipses).
    3. Select Find... The Find Element dialog box will open.
    4. Set Find to Unmarked Content.
    5. Select Search Document.
    6. Select Find and for each element found, select Tag Element.
    7. You can then go through each element recently added to the tags tree and tag them appropriately or marked them as artifacts.
  • Tagged Annotations
    1. Select and expand the Accessibility Tags side panel from the right-rail toolbar.
    2. Select and expand the Options menu (ellipses).
    3. Select Find... The Find Element dialog box will open.
    4. Set Find to Unmarked Annotations.
    5. Select Search Document.
    6. Select Find and for each element found, select Tag Element.
    7. You can then go through each element recently added to the tags tree and tag them appropriately or marked them as artifacts.
  • Tab Order
    1. Select and expand the Pages side panel from the right-rail toolbar.
    2. Select all the pages by checking each page or use Ctrl + A on your keyboard.
    3. Select and expand the Options menu (ellipses).
    4. Select Page Properties... The Page Properties dialog box will open.
    5. In the Tab Order tab, ensure that Use Document Structure is selected.
    6. Select OK.
  • Character Encoding
This most likely means that there is a font used on the document that is not native or known to Adobe. Because of this, you will have to go back to the original document and change the font(s).
  • Tagged Multimedia

Ensure that the audio or video object is included in the Accessibility Tags tree or marked as an artifact.

  • Screen Flicker
This test fails if there is any content, such as animations, that flicker on the document. You will have to go back to the original document and adjust the flashes per second of the animation.
  • Scripts

This test fails if there are scripts that require functionalities that are not possible to users with assistive technology and/or interfere with the way users with assistive technology navigate the document. If your content fails this test, you will have to modify or remove the scripts.

  • Timed Responses
This test fails if there are form fields that contain JavaScript that require times responses. If your content fails this test, you will have to remove the JavaScript.
  • Navigation Links

Most documents automatically create link objects when exported from Microsoft Word or PowerPoint. However, if you do happen to have this issue:

    1. Select Edit from the top-header toolbar.
    2. In the Add Content section, select and expand Link.
    3. Select Add or Edit a Link.
    4. Click and drag over where the link is on the document. The Create Link dialog box will open.
    5. Select an option for Link Action and then select Next.
    6. Enter the location for the link and select OK.

You have now created a link object and will have to add it to the Accessibility Tags tree.
