Call to Order:
The Taft College Campus Safety & Security meeting was called to order at 9:12am.
Minutes – March 21, 2025:
The minutes for the February 21, 2025, meeting were approved with four in favor and three abstentions.
Campus Crime Log:
The campus crime log was reviewed and incidents explained.
Workplace Violence Incidents:
There have been no new incidents reported since the last meeting.
Approve Revised Charter:
Approved with the addition of Item 11, ‘Annually review and update the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP),’ under Specific Responsibilities.
Approve Revised Committee Self-Evaluation:
The Self-Evaluation was reviewed, and it was determined that the number of meetings for the 2023-2024 Academic Year needs to be confirmed before the evaluation can be finalized.
Lockdown Readers:
Kevin reported that everything is operational and will send out lockdown reader locations.
Injury & Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP):
Heather will send draft plan to the committee for review and provided an overview of its contents.
Emergency Evacuation Kits/Area Monitors:
Jessica reported that emergency evacuation kits, locations, and area monitors were reviewed. It was noted that some kits contained expired or limited supplies, and two kits, the one in the G-Buildings and the one at the Welding Center, were not reviewed. Heather recommended forming a subcommittee to review the emergency plan, kit locations, and the contents of the kits. Sergio, Angelo, Brett, and Jessica volunteered to serve on the subcommittee.
2025-26 Schedule
To be determined following the finalization of faculty schedules for the Fall semester.
Other:
Heather noted her interest in posting the Emergency Plan on the website. Myisha suggested that the plan also be added to the TC Safety App. Heather asked the committee to download and review the TC Safety App to provide any pertinent recommendations for improvement. Myisha will introduce the TC Safety App to students during Welcome Week in August. Heather will follow up with Mason to determine whether the Emergency Plan can be added to the TC Safety App. Additionally, Myisha suggested that Kevin and other Campus Safety Officers introduce themselves to students during Welcome Week and share information about campus safety responsibilities.
