Mission Statement

Taft College is committed to creating a community of learners by enriching the lives of all students we serve through career technical education, transfer programs, foundational programs, and student support services. Taft College provides an equitable learning environment, defined by applied knowledge leading to students’ achievement of their educational goals.

Student Resource Center (SRC)

The Student Resource Center is Taft College’s food pantry.  The SRC provides a means for students to take care of their basic needs as the work toward their path to success.

***Student Resource Center will temporarily be located in the Student Union (G-11; park in the lot located at the intersection of Wildcat Way and Cougar Court.)***

How to request items from the SRC (checklist)

  • Check the inventory to see what is available.
    • Click on the file below to view the detailed list of items available in the SRC
    • SRC List (10/22/20)
    • Limits:  1 visit per day, 3 visits per week
      • Food Items:  15 items in one visit, no more than 3 of any one item
      • Water:  3 waters per visit
      • Personal Hygiene 8 items in one visit, no more than 2 of any item
      • 1 blanket/ 1 towel per semester (if item is available)
  • Complete and submit the Student Resource Center Request
  • Below are the days and times when students can go directly to the Student Union to request items and the times when students will have to make an appointment.  If you plan to make an appointment during the morning hours or on Thursday, please submit your request the day prior before 5 pm to ensure your order is packed and ready to go once you arrive.

Monday and Wednesday

  • 9:00 am-12:00 pm Appointment only
  • Closed 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm
  • 12:30 pm-4:30 pm Walk-up service
Tuesday 
  • 9:00 am-12:00 pm Appointment only
  • Closed 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
  • 1:30 pm-5:00 pm Walk up service
Thursday
  • 9:00 am-12:30 pm Appointment only
  • Closed 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm
  • 1:30-5:00 pm Appointment only

Pick up protocol

  • Before you leave, make sure to bring the following:
    • Mask
    • Taft College student ID card
    • A pen

For immediate service during the door-side pick up

    • REMEMBER to wear your mask AND bring your student ID and a pen.
    • Knock on student union door (G-11) to request a pick-up
    • An Ipad will be available to submit your order electronically or you can submit your order using your phone
    • A table will be available in front of the student union to sit and type in your order.
    • Once you submit your order, the Student Equity Technician will place your requested items in a bag and hand it to you at the table in front of the student union.
      • Make sure to show your student ID and have your pen available
      • Sign the receipt showing that you received the requested items.

For scheduled pick-ups outside the normal SRC hours

    • Submit the online student resource center request 1 hr prior to your visit
      • An approval email will follow if the request was approved.
    • Arrive on time and park in front of the Student Union (G-11).
    • If someone is not there to direct you, remain in your car and call 661-763-7887.
    • When directed, go to the table in front of the student union to pick up your items.  REMEMBER to wear your mask.
    • Bring your pen and your Taft College student ID card.
      • Only the requestor can pick up items from the SRC.
      • Requestor must be an enrolled Taft College student.
    • Sign the receipt, using your pen, and take your items.

Donations to the SRC

If you are interested in donating to the SRC, call 661-763-7887 to make arrangements.

  • Donations can be picked up or dropped off Monday – Wednesday
    • Email sbogden@taftcollege.edu to have your donations picked up from your office.
    • Drop offs can occur in front of the student union between 8 am and 5 pm.
  • TC Annual Thanksgiving/Student Resource drive is a perfect time to donate!
    • Begins October 19, 2020; ends November  16, 2020
    • The drive will help stock the SRC
    • Thanksgiving baskets will be donated to TC students

Mental Health and Wellness Services

Taft College’s counseling services incorporates a brief therapeutic model using a multi-modal approach directed at helping students succeed in the college environment. If there is a need for specialized or long-term services, speak with Taft College’s mental health counselor, Isaias Hernandez.
