Housing Resources

The Taft College Basic Needs Center is dedicated to supporting students with secure housing. We offer resources to help students locate safe and stable housing, including connections to Fair Housing services for guidance and advocacy. In addition, we provide emergency financial assistance to help cover rent or mortgage costs for students experiencing a crisis. Emergency funding is available on a limited basis and must be approved through Financial Aid. To learn more about the support available, please see below.

Fair Housing

Fair Housing services ensure that individuals have equal access to housing opportunities regardless of race, gender, disability, or other protected characteristics. This resource is especially helpful for Taft College students experiencing housing insecurity, as it offers guidance on tenant rights, helps resolve housing discrimination issues, and provides support during housing disputes.

Students can connect directly with Jorge Guerra for personalized assistance at (661) 862-5038 or guerrajo@kerncounty.com. To explore more about available support, visit the Fair Housing Counseling page.

How to Apply for Aid

To request for aid or assistance, please complete our Basic Needs Assessment. Following this, you will be contacted to schedule an appointment with the Student Support Coordinator or to collect additional documentation to verify your housing situation.
