Taft College Early College Program

Welcome High School Students! 

Jump ahead with your college education. Our exciting Taft College Early College Program provides current high school students with unique opportunities to get an early start on their college experience with college level instruction through Dual and Concurrent Enrollment courses. This means you can earn free and transferable college credit while working towards your high school diploma. 

Dual Enrollment 

Dual Enrollment refers to college courses offered by high school districts to their students at their site during the high school day.  

About Dual Enrollment at Taft College

  • Most or all students in the class will be high school students.
  • Courses are primarily taught by high school instructors.
  • Students must be approved by their high school administrator/designee.
  • Students must be cleared by Admissions and Records to register themselves in their courses.
  • All fees are waived and required instructional materials are provided. 

Concurrent Enrollment 

Concurrent Enrollment refers to courses available for students to take at the Taft College campus or online. 

About Concurrent Enrollment at Taft College

  • Most of the students in the class will be traditional Taft College students.
  • All courses are taught by college instructors.
  • Students must be approved by their high school administrator or counselor.
  • Students must be cleared by Admissions and Records to register themselves in their courses.
  • All tuition and enrollment fees are waived.
  • Required textbooks are generally not provided and must be purchased by the student.

We make it easy to attend classes with location and modality options. Our Early College Program courses are taught at your high school, at our Taft College campus, or online.

    CCAP Pathway (Dual Enrollment at Taft Union High School, TUHS): High School identifies cohort of students and the courses 

    Non-CCAP High School Enrichment Opportunities (all high schools): Students initiate the process with their high school counselor 

  • Where are classes offered?

    CCAP Pathway (Dual Enrollment at TUHS): At Taft Union High School 

    Non-CCAP High School Enrichment Opportunities (all high schools): Taken on the Taft College Campus or Online 

  • When are classes offered?

    CCAP Pathway (Dual Enrollment at TUHS): During the regular high school day 

    Non-CCAP High School Enrichment Opportunities (all high schools): Any time of the day  

  • What are the requirements to participate?

    Non-CCAP High School Enrichment Opportunities (all high schools): Open to all high school students in California

  • When can I register?

    CCAP Pathway (Dual Enrollment at TUHS): During "Open Registration" for the term 

    Non-CCAP High School Enrichment Opportunities (all high schools): During "Open Registration" for the term 

  • How many units can I take?

    CCAP Pathway (Dual Enrollment at TUHS): Up to 15 units 

    Non-CCAP High School Enrichment Opportunities (all high schools): Up to 11 units

  • Who pays for my books and materials?

    CCAP Pathway (Dual Enrollment at TUHS): Books and necessary materials are provided by TUHS

    Non-CCAP High School Enrichment Opportunities (all high schools): Students are responsible for required textbooks and materials. Students may select "Zero Textbook Cost" courses during registration. 

  • What is the cost of tuition and fees?

    CCAP Pathway (Dual Enrollment at TUHS): None! Tuition and enrollment fees are waived by Taft College.

    Non-CCAP High School Enrichment Opportunities (all high schools): None! Tuition and enrollment fees are waived by Taft College.
