We have a great team of Taft College Student Tutors on campus to get you back on track. They are dedicated to assisting students get through difficult material – from understanding “big concepts” to developing the learning strategies needed to help you retain information and solve problems on your own. Keeping up with your coursework is essential to stay engaged.

Get to know our student tutors:

Emily LeDuc

I tutor both Math and English. My major is Biology, with a minor in Sociology. I hope to transfer to a CSU or UC and study pre-med. I graduated from TUHS with honors. In my free time, I enjoy painting and drawing.

Heidy Valenzuela

My name is Heidy Valenzuela, and I am a Psychology 2200 tutor at the Taft College Learning Center. I was born and raised in Cuyama and am bilingual. I recently graduated from Taft High.

Victoria Dorazco

My name is Victoria Dorazco, and I am from Bakersfield. This is my first semester as a tutor for English 1500, but it's my second semester at Taft College. I am majoring in Liberal Arts with an Area of Emphasis: Allied Health and plan to apply to the Dental Hygiene Program here at Taft College. In my free time, I enjoy baking and going out with friends.

Samuel Ruth

My name is Samuel Ruth. I am a second-year student at Taft College and am tutoring this semester for the first time. Although pre-med is currently my ambition at the undergraduate level, I enjoy math and am always excited to learn more on the subject. Long term, I’d like to study neuroscience, and enter either a research field or become a physician.

Carlos Garcia

My name is Carlos Garcia.  I am majoring in Biology and hope to transfer to a UC in 2024, followed by medical school.  I tutor Chemistry 1510, 2211, and 2212; English; and Spanish.
