The 2016 Community Spirit Award Recipient; former WKCCD Superintendent/ President Dr. David Cothrun. Dr. Cothrun’s presidential reigning term was 21 years. He oversaw WESTEC, the Children’s Center, the Dental Hygiene Program, the Transitional Independent Living also known as the TIL Program, and the Taft College Foundation. All programs are operational and continue to support the students and community. A native to Arizona, Dr. Cothrun moved to Taft to become the WKCCD Superintendent/President for Taft College, and never left. Taft became his home and Taft welcomed him with open-arms. Dr. Cothrun continues his service as a Board of Director for the Taft College Foundation.
