Cougar Alumni and Friends Cookout
Taft College and The Taft College Foundation Saluted the veterans of our community with the time-honored 7th Annual Cougar Alumni and Friends Cookout on Thursday, October 13, 2016. This year, we expanded to accommodate 500 people and feature Flaco’s BBQ Catering. New this year, The Cougar Alumni Village. Enjoy $1 Draft Beer!
One of the highlights of the night came from VFW Post 7216 Color Guard as they marched across the Taft College Quad Amphitheater to kick off the event.
This year’s Community Spirit Award went to former WKCCD Superintendent/President Dr. David Cothrun. Dr. Cothrun’s presidential reigning term was 21 years. He oversaw WESTEC, the Children’s Center, the Dental Hygiene Program, the Transitional Independent Living also known as the TIL Program, and the Taft College Foundation. All programs are operational and continue to support the students and community. A native to Arizona, Dr. Cothrun moved to Taft to become the WKCCD Superintendent/President for Taft College, and never left. Taft became his home and Taft welcomed him with open-arms. Dr. Cothrun continues his service as a Board of Director for the Taft College Foundation.
