Susan Groveman

I proudly serve Taft College as Executive Director of Marketing and Community Relations. I arrived in Taft after a career pivot to the public sector as the first-ever Public Information Officer at the City of South Pasadena.

Before that, I founded Anderson MarCom, Inc., a full-service marketing, communications, and public relations agency, and employed 40 people over 16 years in service to 25 multi-sector clients, including 15 non-profits.

Making a difference to others is important to me. As a two-time cancer survivor, I see each day as a precious gift. After my first diagnosis, I volunteered at City of Hope in Duarte, California, where I escorted newly diagnosed cancer patients to their doctor’s appointments for second opinions. I coveted opportunities to bring some kind of comfort to these patients and their families in an urgent search for answers.

I served as a member of the Board of Directors at two organizations: 1) Community Foundation of the Valleys, a nonprofit funding social causes in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys, and 2) The Greater Contribution, a nonprofit organization empowering some of the most impoverished women in the world through micro loans.

I am a first-generation college graduate. I earned an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. By taking summer classes at Elgin Community College, I finished a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on time. I am also a certified Digital Marketing Professional by The Wharton School.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I completed the Coro Southern California Lead LA Program to broaden my public sector network and make a greater societal difference.

I hope we cross paths in the near future, if we haven’t already! Thank you for taking the time to learn about my background.
