Sheri Horn-bunk

Since 2009, Dr. Sheri Horn-Bunk has served as Executive Director, Taft College Foundation and Institutional Advancement. 

As the Foundation’s first-ever Executive Director, Dr. Horn-Bunk has built the Taft College Foundation’s total assets to over $12 million, including $6 million that have funded college programs and scholarships. Sheri designed and produced three West Kern Petroleum Summits, one notably featuring Jeopardy’s Alex Trebek as Master of Ceremonies in 2015.

With over 20 years’ experience raising funds for higher education in California, Sheri also serves on the Executive Committee of the Network for California Community College Foundations, an organization representing 116 California Community Colleges in collaboration with the Foundation for California Community Colleges.

Prior to Taft College, Sheri worked as Senior Director of Major Gifts at California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB). She also held executive sales and management positions In television and radio, and later founded Data Dimensions, a Los Angeles-based executive search firm specializing in the entertainment industry. Sheri took the company public in 1992 and sold it in 1998.

Long active in civic affairs, Sheri is past President of Bakersfield North Rotary and has served on its governing board since 2011. She is a member of Bakersfield North Rotary Foundation, Phi Alpha Alpha-Public Administration Honor Society, AWE-Association of Women in Energy, Public Administration Committee at CSUB, and Kern Citizens for Energy Leadership Council. 

At CSUB, Sheri earned a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Organizational Leadership, a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in Non-Profit Management, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communications, with a minor in Marketing and Public Relations. At Fresno City College, she earned an Associate of Arts (AA) in Political Science.
