Megan Romero

Megan Romero first learned about the Taft College Transition to Independent Living (TIL) Program for developmentally and intellectually disabled adults as a student. Now a proud Taft College alumna, she remembers hearing poignant stories of students who successfully completed the Taft College TIL Program. The seed was firmly planted then for her career in service to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 

As Director of the Taft College TIL Program, Megan is fueled by her passion to serve students and inspire her team to dream bigger than they may have previously. Her leadership skills, collaborative efforts, quick resolution of conflict, and expertise in financial analysis optimally combine to drive program growth, maintain industry compliance, and set a perfect stage to achieve almost anything.   

Megan’s 18 years of experience fundamentally position her to successfully support the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Community in a wide range of capacities. Previously, she served as Assistant Director of Client Services at Kern Regional Center and Regional Director at California Mentor. 

Additionally, she has experience as a Taft College Adjunct Instructor in Early Childhood Education, a Color Guard Instructor, and an Executive Board Member with the Pep and Pageantry Arts Association of Central California (PPAACC).  

Megan earned her Master of Science degree in Developmental Disabilities with an emphasis in Adult Services and Transition from Nova Southeastern University. She had earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child, Adolescent, and Family Studies (CAFS) from California State University, Bakersfield. As mentioned, she is proud to be an alumna who holds an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Taft College.  

Megan enjoys exploring the outdoors, camping, and boating with her husband and two children.
