Attendees – Brown Elize, R. (guest); Carlson, K.; Chaidez, J.; Kerr, D.; Mendenhall, J.; Sundgren, L. (non-voting member); Valadez, J. (non-voting member)

  • Kerr, D will continue as chair for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 academic years

  1. Review ADC Charter     DISCUSSION
  • Committee members reviewed the charter, and the changes are reflected in red on the document. The charter was then approved:

The charter was approved.

  1. Set committee goals AY 2025-26     DISCUSSION
  • Remain involved in funding for AB 1705 and all other relevant legislation
  • Increase number of students who successfully pass math and English with a “C” or better
  • Continue faculty tutoring in the Learning Center
  • Enable an early alert system as a second point of contact
  • Create workshops to facilitate student success utilizing Canvas and other technology
  • Disseminate and implement short-term course definition to enhance student awareness and success

Other:

Early Alert Update:

  • Issues holding it back from publication include coding problems
  • Add a workflow chart with directions for how to use the system
  • Professors need to speak to students before alerting
  • Committee members will collect information from other colleges and universities with successful systems
  • Potential to request a Retention Specialist
  • ADC will pilot the system once available and then present results at Faculty Reports
  • Questions to consider:
    • What does the report look like?
    • Who gets the report?
    • What is the last day during a semester to submit an early alert?

Short-Term Courses Definition Update:

  • Emails have been sent to appropriate parties
  • Kerr, D. will email Susan Groveman to include new definition in current advertisements

Tutoring Update:

  • Tutors are embedded in the new Calculus support courses

Student Success Courses Update:

  • Availability of these courses is still being determined on a semester-by-semester basis
  • Fall 25 courses are full
