Welcome to the Office of Instruction
The Mission of the Office of Instruction is to support and promote quality and integrity in all aspects of academic and instructional programs offered at Taft College. Centered on the student as an individual, our Mission includes promoting teaching and learning excellence, as well as meeting the learning needs of our diverse student body.
The Office of Instruction welcomes and appreciates diversity in students, faculty, and staff. An essential component of our vision includes the firm belief that diversity enriches the twin goals of teaching and learning, and contributes to a more meaningful experience for both the students and the institution as a whole.
The Office of Instruction oversees all credit and non-credit instructional programs offered through Taft College.
It is responsible for:
- program development
- enrollment management
- the academic calendar
- faculty teaching assignments
- collaboration and consultation on new and developing academic programs.
In addition, the Office of Instruction provides support and resources for Student Learning Outcomes and accreditation.
The Office strives to offer a positive and dynamic work environment for faculty and works in collaboration with faculty to adhere to the District’s guidelines, providing a well-balanced learning environment for students.

Gregory A. Bormann
Interim Vice President of Instruction
Gregory A. Bormann is a seasoned higher education leader with over 20 years of experience
in academic administration, workforce development, and student-centered innovation.
As a first-generation college graduate, he brings a strong personal understanding
of education’s life-changing potential. His leadership emphasizes access, equity,
and career-aligned educational pathways.
Bormann joined Taft College in March 2025 as the Interim Vice President of Instruction, where he leads academic programs, faculty support, and instructional services. His work focuses on expanding student success, workforce partnerships, and inclusive learning environments.
Previously, Bormann served as Dean of Aerospace, Industrial Arts, and Applied Technology at Antelope Valley College, overseeing 25+ CTE programs, two baccalaureate degrees, and major grant initiatives. He also held the role of Dean of Health and Safety Sciences, where he managed programs in Health, Nursing, and Athletics and championed facility improvements and equity initiatives.
His contributions extend beyond academic oversight—he has served as Distance Education Coordinator, Emergency Operations Manager, and led inmate education programs in collaboration with CDCR. Before entering the California community college system, Bormann was Director of Athletics and Assistant Professor at Lane College, an HBCU, where he strengthened athletic programs and tripled scholarship support.
Bormann holds an M.S. in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University–Kingsville and a B.A. from California State University, Long Beach. He is known for mentoring future educators, strengthening career pipelines, and advocating for underserved students.
Outside of work, he enjoys family time, outdoor activities, and exploring new technologies.
