When creating new materials for your class, it is important to make them accessible from the beginning. You can accomplish this by learning to use software features to build a structure that is accessible to people using screen readers and other assistive technology. Designing with accessibility in mind allows you to provide usable material so that all students, regardless of ability or disability, can succeed.

Canvas is Taft College's virtual learning environment. It provides a course site to manage your classes, share resources and files, post and grade assignments, hold online discussions, and more.
- Communication

Students are more likely to succeed in courses where they build relationships with their instructor and classmates. There is a lot of research to support the use of interaction in teaching and learning.
- Videos
Recording and sharing video presentations or demonstrations can be an effective way to deliver content or assess student learning. Taft College faculty, staff, and students have a variety of tools to choose from for recording, editing, captioning, and sharing videos.
- Testing Resources
Meaningful assessment and constructive feedback help learners. Faculty can use these tools and resources to develop assessments that support learning and document student learning outcome mastery in their courses.

- Web Conferencing
Web conferencing technologies are used for online meetings. Real-time (synchronous) meetings with your class online can be a great way to engage students. Online office hours or one-on-one meetings can provide students needed support. Students are more likely to succeed in online courses where they have opportunities to build relationships with their instructor and classmates. It is important to know your students before requiring participation in online sessions; some students may not have the hardware or adequate bandwidth.
