Devin Daugherty

Dr. Devin Daugherty is Dean of Instruction and Career Technical Education (CTE) at Taft College. Prior to Taft College, Dr. Daugherty served as Training Manager and Director of Outreach Services at Kern Community College District, Director of the Center for Applied Competitive Technologies at College of the Canyons, Program Chair at Colorado State University, and Academic Dean at San Joaquin Valley College. He has also taught undergraduate- and graduate-level courses at 14 different colleges and universities for over 12 years. Prior to serving in academia, Dr. Daugherty worked in the fields of project management, human resources management, and healthcare in both the government and private sectors. He proudly served six years in the California State Military Reserves in the Army National Guard as Battalion Personnel and Administrative Section Leader.

Dr. Daugherty received his Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University. His dissertation was on the relationship between socioeconomic data, financial ratios, and operational status of safety-net hospitals. He also conducted research on childhood lead poisoning and the effects of legislation. Prior to earning his Ph.D., Dr. Daugherty completed three master’s degrees—a Master of Public Administration degree from National University, a Master of Aeronautical Science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and a Master of Arts degree in Communication from Liberty University. He received his Bachelor of Science in Public Administration at Upper Iowa University.

Dr. Daugherty lives in Bakersfield, California with his wife, four children, and grandson. Prior to living in Bakersfield, he lived in Arlington, Texas, Las Vegas, Nevada, Phoenix, Arizona, and Santa Clarita, California.
