ACCJC Standards Review Update and Next Steps
On January 11, 2023, the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) conducted a formal first reading of the currently drafted 2024 Standards. The draft Standards are the product of an iterative process that began with the convening of 85 peer writing and reading team members who thoughtfully crafted and edited the Standards that institutions will utilize in future reviews.
Over the past year, staff held on-site and virtual town halls, and solicited feedback from faculty, staff, students, administrators, alums, legislators, and the public – and issued an initial revision to capture feedback specific to the need to better document the important role of libraries and other support mechanisms in the life of students.
The current draft takes into account the additional feedback received from stakeholders throughout the fall 2022 dialogue process, as well as the Standards Review Leadership Team’s work to further streamline processes and reduce redundancies.
ACCJC Staff, the Standards Review Leadership Team, and the ACCJC Commissioners appreciate the input and support and look forward to offering the opportunity for continued engagement through the online comment form and four future listening sessions (listed below). We at the Commission hope that this iterative process will continue to refine our 2024 Standards so that future evaluations will be focused on the equitable student success outcomes that all stakeholders value and which bring us together in this community.
