TIL Vocational Department

The TIL (Transition to Independent Living) Vocational Department’s mission is to teach basic work ethics and skills with the support of community business partners. Our goal is to teach all of our students the skills necessary to be employed and to ensure the success of their independence. These skills would include but not limited to: punctuality, attendance, appropriate attire, basic hygiene, initiative, keeping accurate time records, and safe work habits. All TIL students are paid at least minimum wage and are required to work a minimum of 8hrs a week and must attend a 1hr TIL Vocational Training class each week. Taft College pays the students wages and also covers the Workers Compensation coverage. The TIL Vocational Department is staffed by TIL Vocational Specialist’s and TIL Vocational Assistant’s/Job Trainer.
