Taft College Graduation Procedures and Deadlines

Spring 2014


Graduation Application Deadlines

To apply for graduation, you must meet with a counselor to verify your eligibility. To schedule a counseling appointment, please call 661-763-7748.


AA/AS Degrees:
Associate in Arts (AA) & Associate in Science (AS)

For students applying for graduation with an AA /AS status you must submit your petition to graduate to Taft College by the following application period:

Fall Graduation – Through December 1st
Spring Graduation – Through April 15th
Summer Graduation – Through August 1st
(Not for students applying for graduation with an AA-T/AS-T; see deadlines below for AA-T/AS-T degrees)



AA-T/AS-T Degrees

Transfer Degrees: Associate in Arts for Transfer (AA-T) & Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T)

For students applying for graduation with an AA-T/AS-T status you must submit your petition to graduate to Taft College by the following application periods:

Fall Graduation – Through October 15th
Spring Graduation – Through February 15th

Applying for an AA-T or AS-T
When applying to CSU for fall admission, students must complete the CSU admissions application between October 1 and November 30 of the year prior to transfer. Students must indicate on the CSU admission application the particular AA-T or AS-T being awarded by the California Community College and the date the degree will be complete. Students must apply for the AA-T or AS-T at the community college campus by February 15th, the semester prior to transfer.

When applying to CSU for spring admission, students must complete the CSU admissions application between August 1 and August 30 of the year prior to transfer. Students must indicate on the CSU admission application the particular AA-T or AS-T being awarded by the California Community College and the date the degree will be complete. Students must apply for the AA-T or AS-T at the community college campus by October 15th, the semester prior to the transfer.

SB 1440 - Student Transfer Achievement Reform Act
The Student Transfer Achievement Reform Act (STAR) enables the California Community Colleges and California State University to collaborate on the creation of Associate in Arts and Associate in Science Degree programs for transfer. These AA-T and AS-T degrees allow students to complete an Associate's degree and satisfy lower division general education and major requirements for transfer at the same time.

Commencement Information

COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

The commencement ceremony is held annually during the month of May. All students who have petitioned for graduation during that academic year may participate in the ceremony.

Specific information regarding the graduation ceremonies will be published on the college website after March 1st.

NOTE: Students wishing to participate in the commencement ceremony must complete enrollment requirements for graduation to remain eligible to participate.
