Vicki Jacobi Herder

I am Vicki Jacobi Herder, an academic counselor at Taft College. My office is located in the Career/Transfer Center next to the Counseling Center. I am relatively new at the college, commencing my employment Fall of 1997. I coordinate the Tech Prep program with our local high schools and ROP and teach the Work Experience classes.

I have been providing career counseling for fifteen years, primarily in the private sector. I have my Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Fresno State University. I grew up in Bakersfield, attending the local schools, Bakersfield High School and Cal State Bakersfield. I have always been interested in career development and, therefore, have been an active member on the School-To-Career steering committee.

I am enjoying my employment at Taft College, finding that the staff is friendly and goes out of their way to provide that extra effort to help students succeed in their goals. Taft College is a small community college and in that way it has a feeling of a large family.

My past work experience has included self-employment as a rehabilitation counselor in the Worker's Compensation system, vocational evaluator for a residential facility, vocational coordinator for a sheltered workshop and a rehabilitation counselor for a private firm.
