Grant Review Committee/Committee Recommendation

Grant Review Committee comprised of:

  • three faculty appointed by the Academic Senate; members must solicit feedback from the department(s) being impacted
  • one appointed CSEA member
  • Vice Presidents of Instruction and Student Services.
  • Committee Chairmanship

  • Co-Chairs – One faculty member and one Vice President
  • Meetings

  • Meet on an as needed basis
  • Meet face-to-face, if time allows
  • Meeting by email is acceptable if grant deadline does not allow for a face-to-face meeting.
  • Grant Review Committee Recommendation

  • Recommendation is forwarded to the Planning Council and reviewed at next scheduled meeting
  • If grant is due before the next scheduled Planning Council meeting, the recommendation is forwarded to the Superintendent/President.

    Position Recommendation

    The Planning Council Grant Review Process Ad Hoc Committee recommends hiring a full-time grant writer to identify potential grant sources, disseminate grant information to staff, assist staff with grant writing and write grants. Costs of the new position could be covered by fees normally paid to grant writing consultants. We normally pay 10% of the cost of a grant. For instance, our three Title V grants total $1.3 million per year, which means we are paying the grant writers $130,000 per year.
