I am Vicki  Herder, a career counselor at Taft College. My office is located in the old Career/Transfer Center next to the Counseling Center. My employment here at Taft College commenced in the Fall of 1997. I have coordinated the Tech Prep program with our local high schools and ROP and teach the Work Experience class (WKEX 13 & 14), Educational Planning (STSU 1) and the Career Exploration (Psyc 47) classes.

I have been providing career counseling for more that twenty years, both in the private and public sectors. I have my Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Fresno State University. I grew up in Bakersfield, attending the local schools, Bakersfield High School and Cal State Bakersfield. I have always been interested in career development.  I am currently the articulation officer which means that I work at having our courses transfer to other academic institutions.  I am also a co-activity director for Taft College's Title V Cooperative Grant.

I am enjoying my employment at Taft College, finding that the staff is friendly and goes out of their way to provide that extra effort to help students succeed in their goals. Taft College is a small community college and in that way it has a feeling of a large family.
