Learning Skills Classes
These classes are designed especially for our
students with disabilities. They range from 0.5 to 2.0 units each. They
are intended to augment regular, mainstream courses. They include:
- Math concepts (Math53)
- This class is designed to be taken in conjunction with any level
of math courses that we offer at Taft College.
- Improving Leaning Potential and Functional Word Processing
(LRSK52, LRSK53)
- These classes are to be taken in conjunction with mainstream
English courses.
- Improving Study Skills Strategies and Introduction to
Computer Usage and the Internet (LRSK55, LRSK57)
- These classes are designed to supplement courses in which
research papers are part of the curriculum.
- Enhancement of Learning Styles (LRSK51)
- This course uses specialized techniques and materials to assess
student’s learning styles, and shows the student how to use this
information to the greatest advantage.
Other Courses
- Functional Reading Enhancement (LRSK56)
- This class offers direct instruction in reading decoding skills
and provides an opportunity to improve reading speed and ease. This
class is designed to be taken prior to mainstream English courses,
if determined by the reading portion of the assessment.
Statistics for the Social Sciences (Psych 5
syllabus
course outline)This class is a transferable level course
in applied statistics as used in the social sciences. Although
accommodations are available to all eligible students, this course is
not specifically designed for students with disabilities.
