Math 1060-40 Intermediate Algebra

This course covers topics traditionally covered in intermediate algebra and includes solutions of first and second-degree equations and inequalities, exponents and radicals, logarithms, conic sections and the algebra of polynomials.

  • Prerequisite: Math 1050 "Elementary Algebra" or the equivalent with a "C" grade or better.

  • Textbook & Estimated Costs:
    • Required: MyMathLab Student Access Kit
    • Recommended Textbook: Intermediate Algebra 8e, Lial, ISBN 0321373707. The Access Kit includes an e-book you can use instead of purchasing the book.
  • Estimated Time Per Week: Students can expect to spend at least 10-12 hours per week reading, doing homework problems, watching math videos and/or working on MyMathLab.
  • Special Requirements: Since the entire class is conducted online, you will need access to the internet and a valid email address to use MyMathLab. Students will submit all homework and exams online.
  • Assignments & Tests:  Homework, tests and the final will be submitted through mymathlab.com. Details can be found in the syllabus.
  • Proctored Exams: None.
  • Additional Comments: Attendance is measured by the student’s participation and progress through the course. Students may be dropped from the class if they are not making "continuing progress" in the class. "Continuing Progress" is defined as participating in the class discussions and taking the chapter tests no later than the last day scheduled.
  • New to ETUDES: Be sure to check System Requirements before getting started with ETUDES. You need to do this on each computer you use while taking a class through ETUDES.
