HEd 10: Principles of Healthful Living
The course includes the meaning and significance of
physical, mental and social health as related to the individual and
society. Topics include mental health, physical fitness, health
services, personal relationships, diseases, alcohol, drugs, tobacco,
narcotics and nutrition.

The class will be available for access on June 19, 2008.
- Textbook & Estimated Costs:
: Donatelle, Rebecca J., Access to
Health, Pearson, Benjamin Cummings, 2008, Tenth Edition.
Available as a rental from the Taft College Library or for
purchase from several online bookstores.
Estimated Time Per Week: Students can expect to spend
approximately 8 to 10 hours per week reading, writing, doing a
research paper, and taking quizzes and exams.
Special Requirements: The course will be conducted online.
Students are required to have Internet access, the ability to use
word processing, conduct Internet searches, attach files, send
emails, and work independently.
Assignments & Tests: Students will take exams, including the
final exam, weekly assignments and quizzes, and a research paper.
Proctored Exams: None.
Additional Comments: Because this is a distance learning
course, attendance is not an issue. Turning assignments in on time
is. If you do not meet the first assignment deadline, I will assume
you do not wish to stay in the class and drop you unless you contact
me. After that, it is your responsibility to drop the course. Drops
will not be backdated. Contact the counseling center or the distance
learning help desk to submit drop slips.
