GEOLOGY 10, Introduction to Geology

This course studies the basic principles of geology, including laboratory study of minerals and rocks, structure of rock masses in the field, earthquakes, interpretation of geologic maps and evolution of natural landscapes.

  • Estimated Time Per Week: Students can expect to spend approximately 12 hours per week reading chapters and lab exercises, viewing corresponding section on CD, viewing videos, writing answers to questions in text and on CD, answering questions for lab exercise, and designing and developing midterm and final papers/projects.
  • Special Requirements:  This course is available by distance learning offline. Students should submit their work weekly by email (preferred) or U.S. Postal Service. Students at TCI should submit their work to the Taft College instructional aides. Students are encouraged to study in groups and assist each other in the learning process, but making sure that each person learns the subject matter.
