PSYC 2200-40, Statistics for the Behavioral and Social Sciences

This course provides students with a solid foundation in statistics as used in psychological, sociological, and behavioral research. Students will develop a useable understanding of research design, the organization of data, measures of central tendency and variability, central tendency theory, descriptive and inferential statistics, parametric and nonparametric tests, and basic test assumptions.

  • Advisory: Qualification by assessment process or Mathematics 1060 (formerly Mathematics 52) or two years of high school algebra with a grade of “C” or better.

  • Special Requirements:  The entire course will be conducted online through the ETUDES program. Students are required to have Internet access, an email address, the ability to use word processing, conduct Internet searches, attach files, send emails, and other basic computer skills. Students are expected to work independently, log into the class on a regular basis, read instructions carefully, follow written instructions, and not procrastinate.   • Assignments & Tests:  Twice-weekly homework, weekly quizzes, one paper, and a total of 4 exams
  • Proctored Exams: Yes. See the Proctor Identification Procedures for directions on how to set up a proctor for approval.
