HIST 39 History of California
By the end of the term you will be able to understand the context of
California’s past and the roots and nature of change in Californian society
and gain a deeper understanding of the social, political, and cultural
dimensions of its history through discussion, reading and review of the
historical record.

Estimated Time per Week: Students can expect to spend
approximately 10 to 12 hours per week reading, writing and taking exams.

Assignments & Tests:
Students will complete 15 weekly essays, participate in 15 weekly
discussion forums, take a midterm and a final exam, and complete a
research paper.
Proctored Exams: Exams are not proctored.
Additional Comments: Because this is a distance-learning course,
attendance is not an issue. Turning assignments in on time is. If you do
not meet the first assignment deadline, I will assume you do not wish to
stay in the class and drop you unless you contact me. After that, it is
your responsibility to drop the course. Drops will not be backdated.
