GEOG 1–71 Physical Geography
The student will be introduced to the physical elements of geography. These include weather, climate, soils, biogeography,
hydrology, and, geomorphology.

Estimated Time Per Week: Students can expect to spend 10-12
hours a week reading, writing, mapping, and taking quizzes.
Special Requirements: Colored pencils for maps and drawings
recommended. All hand written work must be neat and easily
read. Submit work via U.S. mail or to Taft College LRC in person.
Work should reach TC by Wednesday following the end of each unit.
Assignments & Tests: There will be assignments for all 20
chapters of the text. Short quizzes for the first 16 chapters. The
final is all inclusive but open-book. A short research paper is
required.
Proctored Exams: Yes. See the
Proctor Identification
Procedures for directions on how to set up a proctor for
approval.
Additional Comments: Quizzes may be taken at the LRC or with
a proctor. Students are expected to stay current with work.
