COSC 39G-71 Microsoft Excel 2002
This course is an introduction to electronic
spreadsheets in the Microsoft Windows environment. The course will
assist students in preparation for the Microsoft Office User Specialist
Certification Exam. Students will learn the operations and features of
Microsoft Excel to solve common problems in a business environment.

Purchase Text: : Microsoft Excel 2002: Complete Concepts
and Techniques by Shelly, Cashman, and Quasney (ISBN
0-7895-6278-2). Available from the TC Bookstore (price
approximately $55 tax included*) or other online bookstores.
Additional Materials: Non-TCI students may wish
to submit their exercises on 3.5" double-sided high-density
diskettes. TCI students will be provided diskettes for saving
and submitting their work.
Estimated Time per Week: Students can expect to spend 5
hours per week reading and preparing the exercises as directed in
the course syllabus.
Special Requirements: This course is not delivered through
the Etudes program. Directions for the course are included in the
course syllabus. Students can submit their work via email, U. S.
postal mail, through the TCI instructional aides at TCI, or in person at the LRC.
Assignments & Tests: Students will complete 6 chapter
projects and a final project.
Proctored Exams: None
Additional Comments: Because this is a distance learning
course, attendance is not an issue. Turning assignments in on time
is. If you do not meet the second assignment deadline, I will assume
you do not wish to stay in the class and will drop you unless you
contact me. (The course syllabus has information on due dates for
all projects.) After that, it is your responsibility to drop the
course should you need to do so. Drops cannot be backdated. Contact
the counseling center, the distance learning help desk, or the TCI
instructional
aides at TCI to drop the course.
