COSC 38G: Introduction to Presentation Graphics - Microsoft PowerPoint 2007
This course is an entry-level course for students who wish to obtain a
general knowledge of the application of presentation graphics software in the
preparation of effective, professional presentations. Students will exhibit a
computerized presentation on a topic of their choice as a final project.

Textbooks & Estimated Costs:
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 Comprehensive
Concepts and Techniques by Shelly, Cashman, and Sebok. ISBN:
1-4188-4347-4. Available from the
TC Bookstore or other online bookstores. The cost of the textbook is
approximately $81.00. You will need to purchase the text.
Estimated Time Per Week: Expect to spend about five hours per week
on this class.
Special Requirements: Assignments must be completed using Microsoft
PowerPoint 2007. If you don't have PowerPoint on your home or office
computer, you may complete your work on campus. If you're interested in
purchasing Microsoft Office 2007 (including PowerPoint) at a SUBSTANTIAL
discount please visit
www.CollegeSoftware.org for information. Since the entire course will be
conducted online, you will also need access to the Internet.
Assignments & Tests: Your final course grade will be based upon
completion of approximately 15 assignments, five quizzes, and a final lab
project. All quizzes are taken online.
Proctored Exams: No
Additional Comments: It's important that you have your textbook and
access to the required software the first day of class, so please plan
accordingly. This is a short term class and time will pass VERY quickly. The
course is designed to allow you to work ahead if you would like. If you fall
behind, however, it is very difficult for you to catch up. If you don't wish
to remain in the class, contact the Counseling Center or Distance Learning
Help Desk to initiate the process of withdrawing from the class. Failure to
do so may result in your receipt of a failing grade.
