CJA 11-80 Juvenile Procedures

This is a study of the organization, functions and jurisdiction of juvenile agencies with emphasis on the processing and detention of juveniles; juvenile case disposition; juvenile statutes and court procedures.

    • This is an online class. The instructor will log on and check for messages at least once a day, normally several times a day.  If you have questions or concerns you can utilize the email address.

      • Juvenile Delinquency Theory, Practice and Law Authors: Larry J. Siegel, Brandon C. Welsh and Joseph J. Senna. 9th Edition Available as a rental from the Taft College Bookstore or purchase from several online bookstores. ISBN: 9780534645663
  • Estimated Time Per Week: Students should expect to spend approximately 10 hours per week reading, writing, and taking exams.
  • Special Requirements:　The entire course will be conducted online through the ETUDES-NG program.  Students are required to have Internet access, the ability to use word processing, conduct Internet searches, attach files, send emails and other basic computer skills.  Students are expected to work independently.
  • Assignments & Tests:　Students will complete module assignments, discussion board assignments, reading assignments and tests.  This class has a final examination.
  • Proctored Exams: No
  • Additional Comments:　Because this is a distance learning course, attendance is not an issue, however, turning in assignments on time is.  If you do not meet the first assignment deadline, I will assume you do not wish to stay in the class and will drop you unless you contact me.  After that, it is your responsibility to drop the class.  Drops will not be backdated.  Contact the counseling center or the distance learning help desk to drop the course.
  • New to ETUDES-NG: be sure to check System Requirements before getting started with ETUDES-NG. You need to do this on each computer you use while taking a class through ETUDES-NG.
