BUS 18-70 Business Law

This course is a survey of the principles of business law with particular emphasis given to contracts, sales, negotiable instruments, and trade regulations.

  • Advisory: Eligibility for English 50 and 54 strongly recommended.

    • Rental Textbook: Business Law Principles and Cases in the legal Environment, 8th Edition, Davidson Knowles & Forsythe, ISBN: 0-324-15353-5 and Business and the Law Telecourse
    • Purchase: Study Guide, 4th Edition, ISBN: 0-538-86858-9.
  • Estimated Time Per Week: Students can expect to spend approximately 8 to 10 hours per week reading, doing homework assignments, and completing exams.
  • Special Requirements: Directions for the course are included in the course syllabus. Students can submit their tests via, U.S. postal mail, the LRC on campus, through the TC aides at TCI, or in person. Students are expected to work independently. This course is not delivered through the Etudes program.
  • Assignments & Tests: Five multiple-choice exams are given.
  • Proctored Exams: Yes See the Proctor Identification Procedures for directions on how to set up a proctor for approval.
  • Additional Comments: Because this is a distance-learning course, attendance is not an issue. Turning assignments in regularly is. Deadline is defined as follows; homework and tests are expected to be completed and in my hands by the due date in course syllabus. It is the responsibility of the student to drop the course. Contact the counseling center or the distance learning help desk to drop the course.
