MGMT 1505-40, Principles of Supervision

This course is designed to provide the student with certain key principles and practices of management from the line supervisor level. Principles of employee-management relations and use of systematic approach to problem-solving will be discussed. Functions of the supervisor concerning interpretation of organizational policies, introducing new employees to their jobs, transfers, promotions and discharges, safety, training, and human resources. Case studies in the functional areas of supervision will be discussed and reviewed

    • The instructor will be available by phone and email: Monday through Thursday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm by telephone. Message will be answered daily. Phone calls will be taken during office hours or at other times agreed upon between the student and instructor.

  • Estimated Time Per Week: Students can expect to spend approximately 8 to 12 hours per week reading, writing, completing the skill builders at the end of each chapter and participating in class discussions.
  • Special Requirements: The entire course will be conducted on-line through the Etudes program. Students are required to have Internet access, an active email account, the ability to use word processing, conduct Internet searches, attach files, send emails, and work independently.
  • Assignments & Tests: Students will complete skill builders at the end of each week and Discussion questions online.
  • Proctored Exams: No
  • Additional Comments: Because this is a distance learning course, attendance is not an issue; however, turning assignments in on time is. If you do not meet the first assignment deadline, I will assume you do not wish to stay in the class and drop you unless you contact me. After that, it is your responsibility to drop the course. Drops will not be backdated. Contact the counseling center or the distance learning help desk to drop the course.
  • New to ETUDES: Be sure to check System Requirements before getting started with ETUDES. You need to do this on each computer you use while taking a class through ETUDES.
