Math 1050-42 Elementary Algebra
Math 1050 is an introductory course in elementary algebra
and will introduce the main topics of algebra, which are: the real number
system, equations, inequalities, graphs of linear equations and inequalities
in two variables, systems of linear equations and inequalities, exponents
and polynomials and factoring. Only chapters 1-6 will be covered.

Qualification by assessment process or completion
of Math 0240 with a grade of "C" or better

- Recommended Textbook: Introductory and Intermediate
Algebra 4e, Lial, Hornsby, McGinnis. ISBN 032157569-5. The Access
Kit includes an e-book you can use instead of purchasing the book.
Estimated Time Per Week: Students can expect to spend at least
10-12 hours per week reading, doing homework problems, watching math
videos and/or working on MyMathLab and taking tests.
Special Requirements: Since the entire class is conducted
online, you will need access to the internet and a valid email address
to use MyMathLab. Students will submit all homework and exams online.
Assignments & Tests: Homework, tests and the final
will be submitted through mymathlab.com. Details can be found in the
syllabus.
Proctored Exams: None.
Additional Comments: Attendance is measured by the student’s
participation and progress through the course. Students may be dropped
from the class if they are not making "continuing progress" in the
class. "Continuing Progress" is defined as participating in the class
discussions and taking the chapter tests no later than the last day
scheduled.
