INCO 1548-43 Information Competency and Bibliography

Methods of library research including the use of online resources, catalogs, indexes, bibliographies and specialized sources of information are presented. Emphasis on research techniques in preparation for the term paper bibliography.

Prerequisite: None

Advisory: Eligibility for English 1000 and Reading 1005 strongly recommended; pre- or co-requisite to English 1500

Students will need access to Gibaldi, Joseph. MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers. 7th ed. New York: Modern Language Association of America, 2009. Students are not required to purchase the text. It is available for use in most academic and public libraries.

Estimated Time Per Week: Four (4) hours per week

Special Requirements: Access to the Internet and any Library of Congress based Library
