History 2210-30, World Civilization to 1600

This course surveys World History from the emergence of human beings through the Renaissance. Topics will include the River Civilizations, Greece, Rome, China, India, and Southeast Asia, Islam, Early American Civilizations, Africa, and the emergency of Europe.

  • Estimated Time Per Week: Students can expect to spend approximately 8 to 10 hours per week reading, writing and taking exams.
  • Special Requirements: Access to a computer with current software is useful.
  • Assignments & Tests: Students will complete 15 chapter discussions, 3 topical chronologies, 4 quizzes and 1 final exam.
  • Proctored Exams: Exams must be proctored. Proctor forms are available on the Taft College Web page. See the Proctor Identification Procedures for directions on how to set up a proctor for approval.
  • Additional Comments: Because this is a distance learning course, attendance is not an issue. Turning assignments in on time is. It is your responsibility to drop the course. Drops will not be backdated. Contact the counseling center or the distance learning help desk to submit drop slips.
