ECE 1571-40, Child Study and Assessment

Formerly known as ECE 20. This course will provide students with information on appropriate assessment techniques used to assess children, guide learning and curriculum development and create appropriate and respectful environments. Students will get hands-on experience working with families in of observing, assessing, and developing a portfolios for young children. In addition, the student will learn to interpret observations, implement findings, and initiate on going evaluation. Anecdotal records, rating systems and multiple assessment techniques will be explored.

  • Advisory: Eligibility for English 1000 and Reading 1005 strongly recommended; 48 hours lecture
