COSC 1602-30, Microsoft Word 2007

This course is an introduction to electronic word processing in the Microsoft Windows environment. Students will learn the operation and features of Microsoft Word 2007 to support common communication requirements in a business environment.

    • Purchase Text: Microsoft Office Word 2007 Complete Concepts and Techniques by Shelly, Cashman, and Vermaat. ISBN: 1-4188-4337-7 Available from the TC Bookstore or other online bookstores. The cost of the textbook is approximately $75.00. You will need to purchase the text.
  • Estimated Time Per Week: Expect to spend about five hours per week on this class.
  • Special Requirements: Assignments must be completed using Microsoft Word 2007. If you don’t have Word 2007 on your home or office computer, you may complete your work on campus. If you are using more than one computer to complete your work, it is suggested that you have a storage device such as a USB flash drive so that all your work is portable.
  • Assignments & Tests: Your final course grade will be based upon completion of twelve assignments and six quizzes.

  • Additional Comments: It’s important that you have your textbook and access to the required software the first day of class, so please plan accordingly. This is a short term class and time will pass VERY quickly. The course is designed to allow you to work ahead if you would like. If you fall behind, however, it is very difficult for you to catch up. If you don’t wish to remain in the class, contact the Counseling Center or Distance Learning Help Desk to initiate the process of withdrawing from the class. Failure to do so may result in your receipt of a failing grade.
  • This course does not require that you have in internet connection; however, if you intend to send your work to the instructor as attachment(s) to emails, an internet connection will be necessary.
