CJA 2103-40 Concepts of Criminal Law
This course covers the historical
development, philosophy and practice of law and constitutional provisions;
definitions and classifications of crime; and legal research study of case
law, methodology, and concepts of law as a social force. Law as it affects
the correctional component of the justice system will be clearly identified.
: Eligibility for English 1000 and Reading
1005 strongly recommended. Also good computer and word
processing skills are recommended.

- Estimated Time Per Week
:
Three (3) hours of distant
learning lecture and material weekly. The estimated time per
week to complete all the assignments and tasks is generally 6 to
8 hours.
- Special Requirements
: The
entire course will be conducted online through the ETUDES
program. Students are required to have Internet access, the
ability to use word processing, conduct Internet searches,
attach files, send emails and other basic computer skills.
Students are expected to work independently.
- Assignments & Tests: Students
will complete quizzes, papers and a final exam.
- Proctored Exams:
None
- Additional Comments: Because
this is a distance learning course, attendance is not an issue’
however, turning assignments in on time is. If you do not meet
the first assignment deadline, I will assume you do not wish to
stay in the class and drop you unless you contact me. After
that, it is your responsibility to drop the class. Drops will
not be backdated. Contact the counseling center or the distance
learning help desk to drop the course.
