Head Coach: Kanoe Bandy has been coaching at Taft College since the 1987 season. In 1994, Taft College dropped the athletic program. During that period of time Kanoe Bandy coached at Taft High School in the fall of 1994 and at Bakersfield College in the fall of 1995, winning a Western State Conference Championship while at Bakersfield College. Coach Bandy returned to Taft College in 1996 when the athletic program was reinstated. Kanoe Bandy is a Taft College representative on the Central Valley Conference Board of Directors. She also holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer to the California Community College Volleyball Coaches Association.

The team’s greatest success has come since the reinstatement of volleyball in the 1996 season. Under Kanoe Bandy, the team has won 4 conference championships and has been in regional playoffs every year since 1996. After winning the conference championship in 2004, the team went on to the State Championships and took 4^th place in the State of California. Kanoe Bandy has been Coach of the Year for the Central Valley Conference 5 times. She also had the greatest honor in 2003 when she was voted by her coaching colleagues as the Northern California Coach of the Year in its inception year. In 2004, Kanoe Bandy was again voted as the Northern California Coach of the Year and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Southwest Region Coach of the Year.

Kanoe Bandy serves as the Athletic Director at Taft College and is an Instructor in the Business Department.

Kanoe Bandy also serves on the Commission on Athletics (COA) Management Council representing Water Polo and is on the COA Championship Site Selection Committee.

With all of these duties, Kanoe’s greatest joy at work is her volleyball team. The players keep her challenged and remind her of the importance of education. She also knows that the many lessons we learn through athletics relate to the game of life.

Assistant Coach: Lisa Borrecco played for us in 1997 and 1998. She graduated from Taft College in 1998 and transferred to California State University, Bakersfield where she graduated in English. Lisa currently teaches English at Taft Union High School and spends the afternoon with us here at Taft College.
